Abstract | As the clock ticked into injury time there was a sense of familiarity about the final dary of the Premier League season on May 13, 2012. Machester United were again fighting for the title and doing exactly what was required of them: winning and controlling their game. After spending the last week of the season resigned to the fact that the Premier League trophy would be hoisted on the other side of Manchester, the United fans were daring to dream again. Radios were clutched to ears, mobile phones were being frantically refreshed and the sheepish grins of belief began to emerge.
